Blackwood Players Inc are pleased to be performing a revival season of Noel Coward's "Hay Fever" at the Blackwood Memorial Hall.
PLEASE NOTE PERFORMANCES FROM THE 2nd & 3rd AUGUST HAVE BEEN RESCHEDULED TO 9th & 10th OF AUGUST DUE TO CAST ILLNESS. WE APPOLOGISE FOR ANY INCONVIENCES.
The play, originally written and performed in 1923, is a comedy of (extremely bad) manners as the four members of the Bliss family amuse themselves one weekend at the expense of their four guests.
First performed in London's West End and later on Broadway, the play is considered by many to be Coward's best.
Blackwood Players' production is sure to delight theatregoers of all ages.
The play will be performed on the 19th, 20th, 26th and 27th of July; and the 2nd and 3rd of August 2013. All performances start at 8pm at the Blackwood Memorial Hall, 21 Coromandel Parade Blackwood.
The Bliss family (father David, mother Judith and children Simon and Sorel) have each invited a guest to stay for the weekend at their house in the country. What should be a romantic romp for all soon turns into a free-for-all as each member of the Bliss house decides to make their guests' stay as miserable as possible.
David Bliss, the author, can't stay away from his female admirers, but then neither can Simon; while mother and daughter soon fall out over tall, athletic Sandy Tyrell. The weekend spirals out of control into a whirlpool of deceit, bad manners and melodrama.
